What is an Ike?

Frederick Chapter is big in wildlife conservation and the shooting sports for over 90 years. We are not a gun club but have stricter rules than they do. We require a NRA range safety officer (RSO) on the range at all times. We offer this class every three months on a Sunday and new member range privileges will be limited until you take this class. We teach many other class for the public include Maryland Hunter Safety and NRA Training. These class help us support our award winning youth program.

Protecting America's Outdoors & Promoting our Nation's Natural Heritage

OUR MISSION To conserve, maintain, protect, and restore the soil, forest, water and other natural resources of the United States and other lands; to promote means and opportunities for the education of the public with respect to such resources and their enjoyment and wholesome utilization.
OUR HISTORY Founded in September 1923, the Frederick Chapter is one of the first chapters of the Izaak Walton League of America. As one of the nation's oldest and most respected conservation organizations, the Izaak Walton League of America is a powerful grassroots network of nearly 270 local chapters nationwide. The League takes a common-sense approach toward protecting our country's natural heritage and improving outdoor recreation opportunities for all Americans. We invite you to learn about our work and to join us in supporting important conservation initiatives in your community.

OUR STEWARDSHIP of the LAND Through easements, education and outreach the Frederick Chapter strives to develop and promote conservation efforts that are relevant to and supportive of our community and surrounding environment.

ENVRONMENTAL PROTECTION: Working with the Maryland Environmental Trust, we have preserved 49 of our 50 acres in perpetuity through an environmental easement, thus protecting the land from further development.
