Mason Bee Population Support
Last May, the Frederick Chapter #1 received six Mason Bee habitat boxes from an Eagle Scout project by Chloe Wood. These habitats will support Mason Bee egg and larva development. Mason Bee populations have been dwindling and these six habitat boxes will help to support increasing their numbers. The habitat boxes were constructed using pallet wood and filled with paper tubes and bamboo for Mason Bees to inhabit and lay their eggs in. Mason Bees are solitary and more efficient pollinators than Honey Bees; one Mason Bee can do as much pollinating as 300 Honey Bees.
