The Frederick Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America is a nonprofit conservation organization founded in 1923. WE ARE NOT A GUN CLUB but you may think so because our shooting range and all our training program around Youth, Hunter Safety, NRA and State of MD Class that involving shooting. We do these classes because since we are a tax-exempt nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization, we must do charitable, educational, fostering amateur sports to keep our tax-exempt.

The Frederick Chapter is part of Izaak Walton Leagues one of the nation's oldest and most respected conservation organizations, Founded in 1922. With a powerful grassroots network of more than 240 local chapters nationwide, the League takes a common-sense approach toward protecting our country's natural heritage and improving outdoor recreation opportunities for all Americans. Our mission is to conserve, restore, and promote the sustainable use and enjoyment of our natural resources, including soil, air, woods, waters, and wildlife.
We also have a Maryland Division which consist of the 15 chapter in Maryland and pool it resources to helping secure federal protection for the C&O Canal, clean up the Chesapeake Bay, and acquires state forest and park areas. The Save Our Streams Program, begun in 1969 in Maryland, expanded nationally in 1974. Since then, it has become one of the League's most successful and longest running conservation programs. The division was chartered by the League in 1945.

The Frederick Chapter teaches many classes listed on our website on MD Hunter Safety, NRA Training and State of Maryland State Police class, which help support of Youth group. The class normal occur Thursday, Friday 6p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday to around 2 p.m. and the Youth Group Meet the second and fourth Sunday of the month from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. our gun range is open Monday - Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to ½ hour before dark and Sunday: 11:00 am to 5pm, and may be closed or limited when training is going on. All members must be an NRA Range Safety Officer to use the range anytime or limited until you take this class. The NRA Range Safety Officer course is taught every three months and there a cost for material.

After Joining we like to become involved in the charter events like Assisting in youth program activities, Participating in chapter clean-up days, Helping coordinate &/or participating in chapter conservation projects, Assisting in NRA, HQL, and Hunter Safety classes, Mowing and/or trimming grass, or shoveling snow as needed, Assist with chapter fundraising events such as raffles, and the annual pig roast but if your busy life prevent you from participating there fees to option out of doing 12 participation points to help with our mission, But if you over 65 from exempt from work hours.

After reading the above and understand the chapter mission and like to be part of this organization. We are always looking for new member and welcome you to join. You need to have a member to sponsor you but worry about this, just get me a membership Director a call, you need to submit and an application, pay the membership fees, come to the membership meeting on Second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. and tell us why you want to be a member. We will ask you where you live, Are you marry, do you have children, What is your profession, Are you a register voter (Not require) and your shooting experience and why you like to join. We will vote on your membership application and you become a member right after the vote.
