Welcome to the Frederick Chapter of Izaak Walton League of America, one of the nation's oldest and most respected conservation organizations. We our one of over 330 local chapters nationwide, the League is dedicated to common-sense solutions to protecting our country's natural heritage and improving outdoor recreation opportunities for all Americans.
The Frederick Chapter was chartered in September, 1923, just 12 months after the National organization was founded in Chicago. To the best of our research, the Frederick Chapter was the first in Maryland and is one of the two oldest chapters in the nation. Fifty members signed the charter that proudly hangs in the Chapter house on Reels Mill Road just outside of Frederick City. For more of our history click here.
